New reports and photographs will be added throughout the year.

Last Ride of 2011 28.12.11 Not a long ride but a very enjoyable one. 3 new faces, Steve, Geoff (Jeff) and Bob, as well as 5 old faces gathered at Spring Wood. As befitting a breakfast run the first stop was for food so no messing it was straight up the A59 to the Dales Kitchen in Skipton. I wasn’t on my ZZR1400 as it was in for repair but on a borrowed “X” reg. Kawasaki ZR750. Let’s just say it was very different. The next part of the ride was on “B” roads first towards Grassington then returning via Burnsall and Appletreewick, past Bolton Abbey back to the A59. Then off onto the back road for a return journey over the tops. The weather was a bit windy but dry and mild for this time of year. Thanks to all those that turned up and look forward to seeing you all in the New Year. Advanced Riding Assessment 26th November 2011 The first two riders (me and Ian) arrived at Valley Bike School in Rossendale for the first session of the two assessment rides. We got introduced to Syd our observer and learned a bit about his background. He was an advanced rider with Greater Manchester Police for 20 years and rides a Yamaha R1, what else do you need to know? We got fitted out with a one way radio and set off with the instruction to ride our normal ride, taking turns to be in front with Syd behind. We were both given his observations, no major faults but slight adjustments, always with safety of the rider in mind. Back at the bike school for a drink and a presentation showing the system of riding and a discussion on the form the instruction would take and what we wanted to achieve from it. Each follow up course of instruction would be tailor made to each individual’s requirements. The second two (Dave and Andy) arrived for their session not knowing what to expect so were jokingly told how hard it was. All those taking part agreed that it was a good session and were interested in doing the day long course. It can be quite daunting having your riding assessed by a professional but well worth it for the improvements that can be made to your riding. If you want to take the assessment ride contact www.realrides@northwestbiking.co.uk with your available days and further sessions will be arranged, also remember that members get 10% discount, not only on the assessment but also on any follow up training.
